Catching up with Joey McIntyre and Jon Knight

A couple days ago I posted some highlights Donnie shared on social media, but in case you missed it here's some social media updates from Joey and Jon!

First, here's a photo that Mark McGrath (from Sugar Ray) shared on his social media. I didn't know he is friends with Joey!

Jonathan is busy filming season 2 of Farmhouse Fixer, but in order to do so, he has to test daily.  Why not have fun with it? Here's some photos he shared on Instagram:

Joey posted about finding a place with great Jamaican Food and even called Donnie because one of the gals who works there is a BH:

Jon also recently shared photos of his adorable goats that he let in the house when it got too cold outside:

Donnie Wahlberg's conversation with Chair Chatter

Donnie went live with Chair Chatter on Instagram last night and the conversation lasted nearly 2 hours! This was not so much a planned interview but more like a conversation. Donnie shares some stories such as how he got his part on Blue Bloods and just how much work goes into something like the American Music Awards (and how tired he was too!) He also just shares his love, positive vibes and reminds us of the special bond that the New Kids on the Block and the Blockheads have! Check out the videos below!

News4U/Hot957 Interview with Donnie

Note: I'm not sure why this posted as a "new" post... I've been updating old posts and removing/fixing dead links. So this was a post from 2009 I had edited today and for some reason it changed the date to today.

Here is an interview with Donnie from News4U (I think it was originally for radio station Hot957)...

NKOTB IS BACK!

Donnie Wahlberg Gave Me This Coke!

(And other True Fairytales)

It was an event that was fifteen years in the making. Over 70 million albums sold and hundreds of millions of fans waited in line for hours for just a glimpse of the five boys from Boston – New Kids on the Block.

In the early Nineties, to say that I was a fan would be the understatement of the century. I had the comforter, the shirt, the button and anything and everything else I could get my hands on that had the acronym “NKOTB” on it. Now, as much as I would like to travel down memory lane and relive the days of big, crimped hair and tight, acid-wash jeans, I am going to save myself the embarrassment and get back to the present.

I had been waiting fifteen years to see New Kids on the Block and now with ticket in hand, my backstage pass secured to my jeans and a very “cool” sound-check bracelet buckled snugly onto my wrist, I could hardly believe that any of it was real. As I made my way into the venue I couldn’t help but shake. I wasn’t a radio personality going to do a pre-show interview. I was a thirteen-year-old love-stricken girl all over again!

I was taken into a small room backstage and told to wait; Donnie would be with me in a moment. DONNIE! I screamed in my head DONNIE WAHLBERG! I tried to remain calm but I’m pretty sure the bodyguard, who must have weighed at least 350 pounds, saw my legs weaken and let out a little laugh.

I sat with my recorder in my left hand, my list of questions clinched in my right hand and in those five or six minutes I was reminiscent of my adolescence. I began humming “The Right Stuff” and would have broken into full song if my thoughts weren’t interrupted. “Can I get you something to drink?”

“No, I’m fine.” I replied without even looking up but as my eyes turned to the door I realized it was Donnie Walhberg who was standing in the doorway. I fumbled to get up and as I did my recorder, questions, and pride fell to the floor. I was face-to-face with my childhood idol.

“Let me help you with that.” Donnie bent down to grab my recorder off the ground as I scrambled to get my questions together.         “Thank you, Donnie.” Thank you Donnie! Did I really just say that? I mean I’m calling him by his first name and we’ve only known each other for about two seconds.

“Have a seat, let me get you something to drink. Coke okay?”

“Is Coke okay?” I thought to myself, “Anything you bring me will be wonderful…” I was talking in my head again and realized he had noticed. “Coke is great.” I was finally able to answer.

This time when he re-entered the room I was much cooler than before. I had everything set up. I properly introduced myself and we sat and chatted for the next thirty minutes.

I confessed that I, like so many others, had adored him as a pre-teen and he couldn’t help but laugh.  We joked about all the New Kids products every girl had to own “back in the day.” I kept glancing at the clock wondering when my time would be up but Donnie just kept talking. We talked about everything from my big move from Evansville to Houston; to his love of Boston; to the time he spent acting; to his return to music. I even found out his nieces and nephews call him “Uncle Donkey” because he always clowns around with them.

I sat in awe of the entire moment. Halfway through he stopped talking and I just looked at him, losing myself. I confessed to him again: I was just taking in the moment. Not too often in your life you are face-to-face with someone you looked up to as a child. The man sitting next to me had hung on my wall for years. I raced to the radio everyday after school for the mere chance that I may hear an NKOTB song and when I didn’t hear it I called the station over and over again until my wish was granted – my first “true love.”

My second assertion made Donnie Wahlberg blush. He thanked me for my time and then did something that will stay with me for forever – he invited me to his dressing room: I got to see where the guys get ready. Then, he took me back behind the stage for a quick tour and for those next ten minutes, he made me feel like a rockstar.

It was an hour that was fifteen years in the making and as I walked outside and saw the sea of women who idolized these five boys from Boston for years and by the looks of them still did. I screamed, “Donnie Wahlberg gave me this coke!”

Better late than never - Danny Wood and Joey McIntyre on Fox 25

Every once in a while I’ll come across an interview that I missed, and what the guys talk about in the interview is now “old” news. So, I usually won’t post it if it’s not relevant anymore.

Over the past month or so I’ve been going through older posts and removing content that’s sadly no longer available. I’m not finished with this project yet - it’s still a work in progress!  Part of the reason it’s taking so long is besides going through over 4,000 posts (🤯) is it’s hard to not stop and re-visit some of the older interviews and events.  It’s a fun trip down memory lane!  It’s funny some of the stuff I have completely forgotten about.  (I wonder what ever happened to this, and did you know this newer song was first introduced to us back in 2011?)

I want this site to be a resource for current New Kids on the Block news, but also a resource for all “post-reunion” news, interviews, memories and more. If you go through some old posts you’ll probably see some that say something like “Update: Interview has been deleted. Does anyone have this saved?"  I put that in there as a placeholder in hopes that maybe someone has a copy of it, and we can get it back online.  So, if you have a copy of some of the older content or know where to find it, let me know! You can contact me by any of my social media (links: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) or by leaving a comment on the site.

So that being said, here’s an older interview from last May of Danny and Joey with Fox 25 Boston. They mostly talk about the re-scheduled Fenway Park concert!

Tickets now on sale for Joey McIntyre in "The Wanderer"

I have not posted about this for awhile and I don't want you to miss it! Sorry I missed announcing when tickets originally went on back on sale from this postponed run, but if you haven't heard, Joey McIntyre will be starring in "The Wanderer" at the Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ from March 24 to April 24!

They are advertising a Q&A with the cast members after the matinee on Saturday, April 23 directly following the performance. (I don't know for sure if Joey will be a part of this.)

Here's a summary of the play from their site:

He’s coming back around after a postponement in the spring of 2020. Dion. One name set the standard of cool for a generation. An Italian-American kid from the Bronx, Dion DiMucci skyrocketed to fame as a teenage heartthrob in the 1950s and early ’60s with hits like “Runaround Sue,” “Teenager in Love,” and “I Wonder Why.” Now, his extraordinary journey comes to the stage in a moving and intimate new musical about a life lived in the glow of the spotlight and in the shadow of addiction. Starring Michael Wartella (Chasing Rainbows) as Dion, Christy Altomare (Anastasia), and Joey McIntyre (Wicked, Waitress, New Kids on the Block). Choreographed by Sarah O’Gleby and directed by Emmy nominated producer and director Kenneth Ferrone.

Jonathan and Jordan Knight to make appearance on Rock the Block

According to this article from Broadway world, Jonathan and Jordan Knight will be making an appearance on "Rock the Block"

HGTV's ROCK THE BLOCK Brings Season Three to Charleston

Lowcountry vibes and high-stakes jibes set the tone for four duos, each with familial ties, to battle it out in the next season of the mega-hit home renovation competition series Rock the Block. Returning to HGTV and discovery+ on Monday, Feb. 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, this time out of the Greater Charleston, South Carolina area, the series again will be hosted by popular carpenter, craftsman and design expert Ty Pennington.

Four teams of HGTV powerhouse experts, who are either siblings, domestic partners or spouses, will face-off in an epic renovation confrontation that ends with one team winning bragging rights and a street named in their honor. Competitors include Pacific Northwest twins and real estate bosses Leslie Davis and Lyndsay Lamb (Unsellable Houses), Arkansas home renovation experts Dave and Jenny Marrs (Fixer to Fabulous), Detroit-based designer-builders Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas (Bargain Block) and Atlanta's veteran real estate broker Egypt Sherrod and her builder husband Mike Jackson (Married to Real Estate). Each team has just six weeks and a budget of $225,000 to renovate identical properties into the ultimate oasis that reflects their distinctive creative vision and real estate expertise.

"It's going to be a blast to see these incredibly talented HGTV stars from all corners of the country-Seattle, Detroit, Bentonville, Arkansas, and Atlanta-strap on their renovation tool belts and bring their unique skill sets to this competition table," said Pennington. "The result will be four incredible, entirely customized homes that only add to the beauty and appeal of the Charleston area."

In the season premiere, a member of New Kids on the Block turned renovation expert, Jonathan Knight (Farmhouse Fixer), will be joined by his brother Jordan to determine which competitors created the ideal kitchen for a potential buyer. Throughout the series, more HGTV stars will arrive on the scene to assess the spaces in each home, including builder and designer Jasmine Roth (Help! I Wrecked My House) who will judge the living room and foyer transformations. Chicago-based designer and home renovation expert Alison Victoria (Windy City Rehab) will join real estate broker and house-flipping expert Page Turner (Fix My Flip) to deliberate about the main bedroom suites.

Popular mother-daughter duo Mina Starsiak Hawk and Karen E Laine (Good Bones) will use their real estate and design prowess to evaluate the exterior spaces. Designing-dad duo and former ROCK THE BLOCK contestants Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent will make their way to the 'block' to evaluate the finished rooms over the garage and bonus spaces. Finally, reigning ROCK THE BLOCK champions Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt (100 Day Dream Home) and Property Brother Drew Scott will stop by for a final home walk-through before announcing the winning team.

"Get ready for another WILD and visually stunning ride," said Betsy Ayala, senior vice president, programming and development, HGTV. "Some of these duos are far more competitive than we ever knew and you won't believe how they take inspiration from the grandeur of Charleston and put their own twist on it to make every space unforgettable."

The homes in the upcoming season of the series will be built by Hunter Quinn Homes in Nexton, a Charleston metro community based in Berkeley County, South Carolina.

What’s in store for NKOTB in 2022?

Did you see Donnie’s Instagram stories on New Years Eve? If you missed them, here’s what he posted:

No other explanation was given, but he tagged his fellow Mixtape Tour 2022 artists Salt N Pepa, EnVogue, and Rick Astley.

Shortly afterwards he posted another story pointing out the Carnival Cruise logo

Then finally he posted a short video stating he was safe and sound on the ground:

That same day, Danny was quoted in a Tweet “Looking forward to 2022, #mixtapetour2022, new @nkotb music, and so much more!"

Joey McIntyre went live on Instagram and he also pointed out a Carnival Cruise commercial that just happened to be on the tv.

Then Donnie was on was on Twitter on Sunday to see what the Blockheads think BBTT means. Here’s a few of my favorite responses. Check out Donnie on Twitter to read them all!

So despite everything going on in the world right, now it seems the guys are optimistic that they will be cruising in the near future. I think the BBTT thing is something different. They have been hinting at new music for the past few months. Maybe this is an acronym for a song with all the Mixtape artists like they did with “80's Baby”. But you never know!
