NKOTB News for September 29

It's been a little quiet over the past few days, but here are a few things that are happening in the New Kids on the Block world!

Everyone has been talking about a potential NSYNC reunion and their new song from the Trolls movie. Did you know there is also a small NKOTB reference in the movie? Watch the video below (starts about 0:55 in).

Jonathan has been busy filming season 3 of Farmhouse Fixer! This photo was shared by North of Boston Studios on Instagram:

And here are a couple of photos from Kristina Crestin

And speaking of Kristina, she recently celebrated her birthday (which Jon made a post about). Victoria Levy posted this photo of her with Kristina, Jon, and Harley as they celebrated Kristina's birthday:

Jon also went to 35 Beach last week and shared a photo of him and the owners Margaret and Matt:

Joey has been relatively quiet since his show last Sunday night, but he posted a photo of his shadow with the words "Thinking about you" on his Instagram stories.

Joey's son Rhys recently celebrated his Bar Mitzvah and he shared some photos (click here to see more photos)

From Joey's post:

This past year has been so full of joy. And no day was more joyous than when @rhysemcintyre became a #BarMitzvah. I cannot articulate how impressed and inspired I am by Rhys’s answering the call to the Torah. He was so focused and engaged. There was never any doubt that this was something he was going to do. He studied vigorously and it showed on his special day. In short, the kid’s got chutzpah.

My catholic father had many a saying, one of them was “do you have a rabbi?”. He would ask that when he saw that I was stuck and needed some guidance. Rhys has many rabbis now. I’m so thrilled that he has a star to steer him. A culture a tradition a people to share this magical journey we are on. I wish him and all my Jewish friends and family- especially my wife Barrett who is the greatest “rabbi” of them all- a very happy new year and g’mar chatima tovah!! #yomkippur (He’s also fasting today for the first time- wish him well!!)

Donnie posted a "love eternal" post last Friday:

Then his posted this video from someone's driveway later that night:

But it looks like he is back home in Illinois now:

Here are some other highlights from Donnie:

I never realized this before - but if you look closely at his signatures, they are all slightly different. I had previously assumed he created a stock image of his signature to use, but it appears he signs each one specifically. Just thought that was cool that he did that.

Jenny was on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna earlier this week and she talked a bit about Donnie!

Donnie Wahlberg shares photo of him making music

Donnie posted this photo of him and record producer/songwriter Lars Halvor Jensen earlier today!

Joey McIntyre at the Bourbon Room

Joey played a show at the Bourbon Room last night! I heard that "Joey and the Bravehearts" revealed the final amount raised for Maui Strong, but I'll wait to post about that until I see the official announcement. In the meantime, here's a video of the show courtesy of Jennifer (artzgal78):

Joey McIntyre's live rehearsal on Instagram

It's been a month since Joey's last performance in Hawaii, so as he prepares for his show on Sunday night in Los Angeles, Joey went live on his Instagram account last night for a live rehearsal at his house! He did have a couple of updates as well.  First is he is writing new songs with Sean Thomas and Ashley Gordon. He says the songs will be on one of two albums! Secondly, he gives us an update on “5 Nights in Brooklyn”. He says it won't happen in the year 2023. Check out those two clips below and then watch the full performance!

NKOTB in the “laboratory”

Donnie posted this photo of himself with Eman, music producer Zhone, and DJ Alex Chapman on his stories tonight!

Update: Joey posted a quick video about how happy he was that Donnie and Eman met:

Catching up with Donnie - updates!

This is a follow-up to the post from earlier today in which I mentioned Donnie flew to an unknown destination yesterday.  Since then, Donnie posted this photo of him and his stepson Evan on his Instagram stories and added the word "California" at the bottom.

Jenny McCarthy also posted a photo of her and Donnie with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife Cheryl Hines.

It appears Donnie and Jenny were at a campaign fundraiser last night for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (a Democratic presidential candidate). It took place at a private estate in Beverly Hills. Some other special guests at the event included Eric Clapton and Stephen Stills (of Crosby, Stills & Nash).

Catching up with Donnie Wahlberg

Last week Donnie was on the east coast for the Patriots game and the grand opening of Wahlburgers at Foxwoods in Connecticut. He also spent some time in New York and it looks like he was recording something while there!

He posted quite a bit over the past week or so.  Here are some highlights!

Puppies!

They had a nameplate for him at the Patriots game and he expressed his gratitude for the experience:

He posted a couple of stories about some of his favorite foods and he asked his followers if there was a better "chip" than "Funyuns":

Here are some thoughts he shared:

He flew back home to "Chi-City" last Friday and posted a few stories from the plane. Note: the one with Marissa Ramirez, he wrote "see you on the set soon". As you probably know, Blue Bloods has not started filming yet due to the actors and writers strike. As far as I know, it doesn't look like the strikes will end anytime soon and the writers would need to start working on scripts before they start filming. But Donnie sounds optimistic. Either way, it will be at least 2024 before new episodes air.

Once back in the Chicago area, Donnie was able to get a few rounds of golf in.

While golfing on Saturday, he witnessed a wedding going on at the country club, so we went over and got a photo with the bride and bridesmaids:

Yesterday was the 15 year anniversary of the first official New Kids on the Block concert of the reunion. So, he made a post about that:

He left Chicago for an unknown destination yesterday. (Update: he flew to Los Angeles.) Do you think he was intentionally blocking something reflecting his glasses? 🤖🤖

Unless this is an old photo, wherever he went, he met up with his friend and New Kids wardrobe designer Patrick Petty!

Donnie who the most famous person in his contacts is (it looks like it was from when he attended the golf tournament in Detroit a few weeks ago). Watch the full video with other attendees including Mark Wahlberg at joshraznick on Instagram

98 Degrees was also at the grand opening of the Wahlburgers last week and they posted a couple of videos to their social media.

Donnie Wahlberg at the Wahlburgers Grand Opening at Foxwoods

Donnie, Mark and Paul were at the grand opening of Wahlburgers at Foxwoods Resort and Casino yesterday. Donnie posted this photo of them on his Instagram this morning:

#Family time at Foxwoods! So #thankful to all who made it to the Grand Opening of @wahlburgers @foxwoods and to all who helped make it possible! Come see us soon! @markwahlberg @chefpaulwahlberg ❤️🍔☘️ And, oh yes — 🤖❤️♾💫✨🤟🏼

Update: if you got a photo with Donnie, you can view those photos here!

98 Degrees played there last night and Donnie took a photo with them:

He also took a photo with some people from Easy Company Brewing

And it looks like he is already on his way back home. He shared this photo this morning:

Mark Wahlberg

The Day posted an article about the grand opening of Wahlburgers:

Wahlberg brothers celebrate opening of their Foxwoods restaurant

By Kristina Dorsey

Mashantucket – People were packed two and three deep along the red carpet Thursday afternoon, phone cameras in hand, waiting with a giddy anticipatory energy.

Then Mark, Donnie and Paul Wahlberg strode out from a door next to their new Wahlburgers restaurant at Foxwoods Resort Casino, and the crowd erupted into cheers and whoops. The trio patiently walked down the line, smiling and taking selfies with fans.

Mark and Donnie are, of course, both famous musicians turned actors – Mark’s movie credits include “The Departed” and “The Fighter,” and Donnie stars on CBS’s “Blue Bloods” – and Paul is an esteemed chef. The Wahlbergs, who grew up in Dorchester, Mass., were at Foxwoods on Thursday to celebrate the official opening of the latest Wahlburgers location. It had a soft opening on Aug. 29.

The Wahlberg brothers created Wahlburgers in 2011. That site in Hingham., Mass., was just the first of what are now close to 100 Wahlburgers locations. The restaurants were also the focus of the family’s “Wahlburgers” reality TV show that aired from 2014 to 2019 on A&E.

Wahlburgers is billed as “a casual dining gourmet burger restaurant and bar chain.”

In an interview on the red carpet, Mark spoke about bringing Wahlburgers to Foxwoods.

“Obviously, this is pretty much our backyard, we’re from New England, and also these are the kinds of places we want to be – with captive audiences and a lot of foot traffic. People come here from all over the country and all over the world, and our brand is very recognizable, nearly 100 stores, so they’re getting a taste of home wherever they come from. This is just the ideal location for us,” he said.

When Donnie was asked what he thought made Wahlburgers and Foxwoods a good match, he cracked, “Well, besides the fact that I used to come down here when Foxwoods first opened to play poker?” And how did that go? “Pretty good. Foxwoods had the best poker room on the East Coast, for sure – phenomenal.”

Poker aside, he said it “seems long overdue, honestly, that we’re here. It just seemed in my opinion a match made in heaven and a no brainer, but these things take time, and it happened when it was meant to, and we’re excited that it is. We couldn't be happier.”

Wahlburgers’s menu does have, as its name would suggest, plenty of burgers, including those noted as being the favorite of each of the brothers (Donnie’s choice, for instance, is the BBQ Bacon with a beef burger, white cheddar, bacon, jalapenos, BBQ sauce and avocado spread). But it also boasts a wide range of other offerings, from Parmesan Truffle Tots to Salmon & Street Corn Salad, from shakes to cocktails.

Paul, who has worked in some of the great kitchens in and around Boston, including at The Charles Hotel and the Four Seasons, said they wanted to offer burgers but also dishes for customers who weren’t in the mood for a burger.

”Our job is to make people happy, whatever it takes,” he said.

Mark, who was standing next to Paul, piped up and said, “In a perfect world, if Paul could serve every order in every restaurant, he would.”

As for Paul testing new dishes on his brothers, Mark said, “Paul has proven to be such an outstanding chef that we trust his decisions and what he does. … He runs all the food, the experience. I handle business, and Donnie is the creative guy. It’s Paul’s baby.”

The space at Foxwoods is sleek, with wood and white brick. Huge photos of the three Wahlberg brothers (they are from a family of nine kids) with their beloved late mother adorn the wall. The TVs hanging over the bar were playing the Red Sox game on Thursday – perfect for the Massachusetts owners.

Wahlburgers joins more than 30 other restaurants at Foxwoods. Jason Guyot, the president and CEO of Foxwoods, said the addition of Wahlburgers is part of the redevelopment in the middle of the property where it is located on the Grand Pequot Concourse. The Foxwoods and Wahlburgers teams have been talking for over two years, working on this project. They were trying to find the right location, and the one in the center of the resort seemed ideal.

Guyot said the food at Wahlburgers is a “great selection, a lot different than some of the other other burger options that are out there, and that’s what made us excited not only because of their relationship in this Northeast area but just the quality of what they’re doing.”

Donnie said he and his brothers have learned a lot over the years about what works and doesn’t.

“The restaurant business is not easy by any stretch. While it looks glamorous when we walk into an opening and take a lot of pictures, it’s a long process,” he said. “We’ve had successes, we’ve had challenges, but we’re persevering and doing well. We’re really excited about the future, and more so because of what we’ve learned. We’re not just blindly walking into the future and assuming because we have a famous last name, it’s going to work.”

Clip of a new NKOTB song from Donnie!

Donnie posted this clip of a one of the unreleased songs from the upcoming New Kids on the Block album "The Block Revisited" on his Instagram stories! Looking at the track list, I'm guessing this is probably "Wanna Fall in Love"!

Donnie Wahlberg at Foxwoods Wahlburgers tomorrow and other Donnie updates

Donnie shared this story last week about the Wahlburgers Grand Opening at Foxwoods on September 14 with the caption "see you there"!

Closer to his current home, he shared this story featuring the fall board at Wahlburgers St. Charles featuring 2 of his dogs: Lady and Gucci:

This wasn't on Donnie's social media, but Phil's Friends posted this video of Donnie talking about an upcoming fundraiser they are doing on September 15 (and maybe Donnie will even be there too!).

Donnie shared this clip in his stories last week just enjoying the day:

On the anniversary of 9/11, he shared this clip:

And he also posted this:

And he reminded us that if "it makes you happy it doesn't have to make sense to anyone else".
