In October 2020, David, Sue and Kendra of Magic 106.7 talked with Joey McIntyre about his song "Own This Town", life during the pandemic, remote learning with his kids, Griffin's role on Country Comfort, his involvement in a play called "Radio Galaxy" (wonder whatever became of that) and more! NKOTB News: New The Wanderer video clips, Donnie talks to The Daily Mail and more!

Here is a video with some clips from "The Wanderer"! Joey is singing a song at 3:20 - I wonder if that's the song he co-wrote with Dion? Check out some photos over at Broadway World.

Here's a short clip of Joey and Mike Wartella "wandering" on their day off:

Video from Mike Wartella on Instagram

Donnie was interviewed by The Daily Mail in the UK. He talks about a recurring nightmare, what's on NKOTB's rider and there is a possibility they could be coming to the UK (and I'm guessing more places in Europe) sooner than later! Here's the article:

EXCLUSIVE: 'I have recurring nightmares': New Kids On The Block star Donnie Wahlberg admits he has an irrational fear that he will 'screw up on stage' ahead of latest tour

New Kids On The Block's Donnie Wahlberg admits he has a 'recurring nightmare' when it comes to performing on stage.

The 52-year-old, who first joined the band in 1984, alongside Jonathan Knight, 53, Jordan Knight, 51, Joey McIntyre, 49, and Danny Wood, 52, says he finds the dreams 'really terrifying'.

'I have a recurring nightmare that it's opening night of the show and I'm literally walking into the venue while the houselights are down and the show is starting and I haven't done anything'.

The lead singer who controls the creative direction of the band's tour said: 'So this nightmare is really terrifying, because I haven't built a set list, designed the show, anything and I'm standing there and being handed a microphone and being told to go on'.

'And I'm looking around and I don't know what's going to happen and I've had this dream like 10 times. I'm fully engaged but my nightmare is that none of this happens and we're totally improvising on open night'.

'The nightmare is that the fans will be disappointed. But the reality is I think a lot of our fans would quite like to watching us bumble up the whole show and screw everything up'.

The band have recently returned to their Mixtape tour to promote their newest single Bring Back The Time featuring fellow stars Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley and En Vogue.

'Joe and I always have a bottle of scotch for opening night' Donnie revealed when speaking about the group's riders - their dressing room requests.

'When we were kids we had arcade games on the rider and ping pong tables – it was madness, but now we just don't have wants on the rider we just have needs'.

When speaking about the group and their longevity, the singer said: 'I'm sort of surprised by it all constantly, even to this day'.

Donnie revealed that he believes nostalgia plays a big role in their success and that's why they decided to dress up as other 1980s stars in their newest music video.

'We didn't know if the fans would love it or not, they might say it's fun but we like to see you guys as you, but they just loved it'.

'I think for New Kids and the fans two things happen at each concert – we've all grown up and had so many responsibilities in our lives, New Kids and their fans, they have jobs, they have kids, they have responsibilities, they have successes in life and tragedies in life – we've all dealt with so many things.

'So I think when we make music now and we go on tour, there is a feeling of nostalgia but there's also a feeling of I'm getting to treat myself to something fun. The dads and husbands are all coming now, it's outrageous - when they were young boys they probably hated us'.

'But it's not all about nostalgia, there's still an element of I deserve to have a good time - I work 50 hours a week and I'm raising kids and I want to have a good time with my husband or my girlfriends. Nostalgia is part of the evening but curtailing there's a large element of everybody deserves to have a good time'.

And on the possibility of touring in the UK Donnie said: 'It's much more of a possibility to happen sooner rather than later'.

Co-written and co-produced by Donnie, the song aims to uplift and inspire listeners. Embodying the feel-good sentiment of their upcoming tour he said: 'From the second I started working on this song, I knew it could be a perfect anthem for the entire Mixtape 2022 tour! Sort of like a 'Mixtape within a Mixtape'.

'When the other artists from the tour lineup responded with such enthusiasm, and were willing to take this nostalgic musical journey together, I knew it would be something special for all of our fans'.

'Hopefully, 'Bring Back The Time' captures a love of music, of making memories and of people celebrating the best of times. We plan on bringing that very energy to the stage every single night!'

Apparently Danny isn't the only one getting his daily workouts in. 😉 Donnie shared this video on Instagram this morning:

Better Late Than Never Series: Missing Danny After Dark videos

I spent some time re-watching some of Danny's "Danny After Dark" videos this past weekend. I checked to make sure I had them all posted on this site, and to my surprise, I was missing a bunch of them! I know I watched them all, so I don't know why they didn't get posted here too.  I didn't regularly post his Tuesday recipe shows until recently, so if you want to catch up on those, visit his YouTube channel! Otherwise, in case you missed them, here's some more of his special live Q&A shows and his talk with Joey McIntyre from last July!

NKOTB News for March 28

The first few performances of "The Wanderer" are in the books! I'm seeing a lot of photos of Joey with fans outside of the theater on social media! If you're looking for a review of the show (with some minor spoilers), check out this post by christinawrites. You can also see a photo of the set from sarahogleby.

Here is a clip of Joey and Christy Altomore enjoying a "peep" backstage during intermission last night:

Joey shared this video clip of him enjoying some Bon Jovi while driving the "Golden Goose" (must be some kind of inside joke with him and Mike Wartella):

Here are some new photos of Jonathan!

Sending love to Maria’s loved ones

Sad to report that Maria (yikes77) passed away today. Here is what was shared on social media by her friends:

I never had a chance to meet her, and only interacted with her a few times online. By the messages I’m reading online, I wish I did get a chance to meet her. She has made quite a positive impact on our fandom. Like I mentioned in a previous post, even though this site is run by one fan, I get a lot of help from other Blockheads! She has helped so much with not just her YouTube channel, but she also kept up with all the NKOTB news herself, often getting the scoop before me. At one time, back when you used to get Twitter alerts by text, I had it set up so it alerted me of new tweets from 6 people: the 5 guys… and hers!

Like the tribute above says, there are no perfect words to honor her.  I’m sending my love to all the BH’s who knew her, as well as her other loved ones.  We will miss you yikes!

You can still donate to Remember Betty in her honor by going here

Listen to Very Scary People episode 3

Donnie Wahlberg narrates the "Very Scary People" podcast about the 1970's murder of the DeFeos in Amityville, NY. Episode #3 is now out!

Donnie Wahlberg interview with Metro

Donnie was recently interviewed by Metro.co.uk! He talks about the possibility of him and Mark Wahlberg doing a movie together in the future, a "wardrobe malfunction" while filming the "Bring Back the Time" video, and his thoughts on getting older and remembering the time when "life was a little simpler". Here is the article:

Donnie Wahlberg confirms plans to shoot movie with brother Mark but warns: ‘My abs are coming for him’

Mark and Donnie Wahlberg have entertained us separately on-screen for years – but fans can expect the brothers to finally come together in the same film.

Older sibling Donnie, 52, is best known as a member of New Kids on the Block and for starring in films such as The Sixth Sense and Saw, while he is also the lead in long-running TV series Blue Bloods.

His younger brother Mark, 50, is also a big blockbuster star with hit movies including Ted, Transformers, The Italian Job and most recently, Uncharted.

The two may have a tight-knit relationship in real life and run in the same industry circles, but they’re yet to cross paths on-screen.

Well, that could all change as Donnie has confirmed he plans to co-star with his baby bro in the future.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the Step By Step singer teased: ‘I think we will do a movie together for sure, at some point. Both of us when we started out acting coming from music, we were both so focused on overcoming the concept that musicians can’t be good actors. So I think he got very focused on trying to break that very stereotype, and I did too.

‘We got really entrenched in our own journey of trying to make it in a different field that we were known for. So both of us didn’t really think about working together because we were so trying to be able to consistently work individually.

‘I think as we get older, if the right opportunity comes up we would absolutely do something together.’

So, with Donnie well known for his dramatic turns and Mark fully immersed in the comedy space, what would a Wahlberg brothers movie look like?

‘For me, if it’s something fun not too dramatic,’ Donnie revealed. ‘I love drama and [starring] in Blue Bloods being dramatic. But Mark and I have made each other laugh our whole lives so I’d love to see what we could do with something comedic.’

‘I don’t want to say a buddy cop movie but a buddy movie for sure.’

However, he did also send a friendly warning to his sibling as he laughed: ‘And he’s not the only one with abs, by the way, he’s going to think he’s got the abs covered – I’m coming for him!’

New Kids on the Block are back on the scene with a brand new single, Bring Back The Time, which throws it back to the 80s and reminds us of a simpler time to be alive – you know, the time before pandemics and all.

The music video is a whole lotta fun too, with NKOTB and their collaborators Rick Astley, En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa, donning 80s-style costumes and replicating iconic videos from the likes of Michael Jackson and Twisted Sister.

It wasn’t without its challenges though as Donnie recalled: ‘I did have one wardrobe malfunction when we were doing the Twisted Sister bit, and I had on some leather chaps – they broke.

‘I might be a little too heavy for the chaps so I think they weren’t meant to be worn by me. They didn’t quite hold up to my booty shaking, which I did a lot of in the video. I was well covered so there was no issue but it was pretty funny.’

Donnie went on to share what he misses most about the 80s and, as much as he loves the music obviously with NKOTB blasting onto the scene that decade, his nostalgia has a deeper meaning.

‘What I probably miss and where the song is connecting with people is just, if you grew up in that era. For so many of us and a lot of our fans, we just miss that age of innocence. It’s not so much about the time – it’s about our time,’ he explained.

‘We’re all growing up so fast, I mean gosh I’m 52! I don’t feel it but there are times when reality hits so many of us and as we get older, loved ones in our lives who have been with us our whole life, they pass on. I lost my mum last year, I never thought she’d not be in my life.

‘As we get older, I personally think it’s important to allow ourselves to have fun and tap into that innocence we all have and that sense of when life was a little simpler for everyone.’

He added: ‘A lot of people feel the same way because the song and video are resonating with so many people and bringing back such a nostalgic feel.’

New Kids on the Block’s new single, Bring Back The Time, featuring En Vogue, Rick Astley and Salt-N-Pepa, is out now.
